Lumber Weight answers one question for every species, nominal size, length, and moisture content a lumberyard actually sells: how much does this board weigh? Every page's number is a real computation from published wood-science data — not a scraped average, not a rule of thumb, not a guess dressed up as one.

It is built for people who need a real number before they load something: builders estimating what a truck or trailer will actually carry, woodworkers planning what a bench or a beam weighs once it leaves the shop, anyone who has stacked a pickup bed with green lumber and wondered why it rides so low.

Where the numbers come from

Every figure on this site traces to two US Government public-domain sources: the USDA Forest Products Laboratory's Wood Handbook (FPL-GTR-282) and NIST's PS 20-25 softwood lumber standard. Nothing here is sourced from a scraped commercial wood database or a competitor's compiled table — those are not public domain, and one borrowed row would entangle the whole site's data with someone else's license. The full derivation, a worked example, and the model's own published error budget are on the methodology page rather than hidden behind a marketing claim; where each column of underlying data comes from is on data sources.

How it runs

The site runs no trackers and sets no cookies. The calculator on every weight page computes entirely inside the page: changing the species, size, length, or moisture content updates the answer with no round trip to a server, because the number was already sitting in the page's own markup.
